Sample projects.

  • Grant and other proposal writing

Successful proposals include: Full Service Community Schools, Promise Neighborhoods, I3 Development, Professional Development in Arts Education, NYS 21st Century Community Learning Centers, ESD-SVP, Advantage, Community Schools, Teacher and Leadership Development, NYC Department of Youth and Community Development, Bloomberg Philanthropies, and various other local, state, federal, and private funding streams.

I also have experience with comlpiance monitoring, and for many years supported the monitoring of 21st CCLC programs in NYC as a subcontractor of the NYC Technical Assistance Resource Center.

  • Facilitation and partnership building

Facilitation services include designing collaborative decision-making processes and meeting faciliation. Sample projects: board transition for a mental health non-profit, planning for federal funding projects (Promise Neighborhoods, Full Service Community Schools, i3), collaborative development of logic models/theories of change including diverse stakeholders.

  • Data design and management

Supporting organizations in developing new data systems with continuous quality improvement and data-driven decision-making in mind. For example, I supported the NYC Department of Education Office of Students in Temporary Housing to engage with stakeholders working with homeless youth to identify shared outcomes. I have also worked with smaller organizations to implement new data systems and manage the transition to a new system.

  • Onboarding and coaching

As small organizations grow, they need to develop internal capacity for evaluation and sustainability planning/grant writing, but this is challenging when hiring new staff or looking to train current staff. I can support this type of growth through hiring, coaching, and collaboratively developing systems. For exampe, I supported Urban Arts Partnership when they hired their first internal evaluator and also training multiple employees to become successful grant writers.

  • Teaching and Professional Development

Teaching is one of the things I love the most! I taught for 6 years at Skidmore College as a Visiting Lecturer/Assistant Professor and for two years at UMass Amherst as a TA and Instructor. As part of my dissertation research, I taught a year long course in Participatory Action Research at Harvey Mlik High School in NYC. I have also provided Professional Development to youth workers, teachers, and administrators through conferences and contracts with NYC DOE. I teach occaisionally for VolksUniversiteit in Amsterdam and will be starting new teaching projects in the near future (more to come!).
